Zeus and Europa

The story of Zeus in Greek mythology is often viewed in great contrast to the other tales of the Olympian gods. Greek gods and heroes are well known for their adventures and their battles with their enemies. The stories of Zeus though tell little of his ultimate leadership or his fights against strong enemies, stories that you would expect from the supreme god, and instead focus mainly on the love life of Zeus. Zeus was the ruler of the Olympian gods, being the son of Cronus and Gaea, previous rulers of the world. Zeus though had overthrown the rule of his father through the Titanomachy, when Zeus, his siblings and his allies, had risen up against the rule of the Titans. Through countless generations the tales of Zeus have focused on his relationships with female gods and mortals. Zeus was married three times, although it is the marriage of Zeus and Hera that was the one to last. The tale of Europa and Zeus is one many stories told of Zeus' relationships with a mortal. Europa is normally identified as being the beautiful daughter of Agenor, king of Tyre in Phoenicia, and his queen Telephassa (or Argiope). Agenor himself his said to have been descended from Poseidon. Europa was sister to Cadmus, Cilix and Phoenix. Zeus was observing his domain when he caught site of her, and as often happened with Zeus, was instantly overwhelmed with her beauty. Again as was normal with the tales of Zeus, the supreme god decided to act upon his desires, and sought to seduce her. Zeus hatched a plan that saw him transform himself into a perfect white bull, and made his way to the shore where Europa was gathering flowers along with her female ladies in waiting. The name of Europa survives today, as the name of the continent of Europe is derived from her. Additionally the tales of Greek mythology also tell of how Zeus went on to create the constellation Taurus in remembrance of the original white bull. The white bull also appears in the adventures of Greek heroes, especially that of Theseus and Heracles, this though is not surprising with the Cretans worshipping bulls for hundreds of years.
We will know that at this story that even gods have a lot of children’s according to the greek mythology like to the bible said that all of us is children’s of God, and we are like God our face they said that we are the highest among all creation of this world and we are the guide of all things in this world,

Metomorphosis By Franz Kafka

By Franz Kafka

Gregor Samsa awakes one morning to find that he has been inexplicably transformed into a giant insect. He has also slept late. His parents and his sister Grete try to rouse him so he can make it to his dreary job as a traveling salesman. The family depends on him for its livelihood. Gregor, however, is now a bug. When a clerk from his company comes to demand an explanation for his absence, Gregor makes a great effort to open the bedroom door and show himself. This sends the terrified clerk tearing down the stairwell and Gregor's family into shock.

Grete, more than his father or mother, handles the situation practically. Gregor is fed, and his room is cleaned. Before long, however, economic reality requires all three to find work, and less attention is paid to Gregor--except when he gets out of his room. No one in the family is fully able to reconcile him- or herself to the insect Gregor, and Gregor is unable to express himself to his family. The fear and disgust his presence inspires (the irrational fear of the mammoth cockroach) is a detriment to his mother's health and incites his father to brief fits of violence. One such fit, a bombardment of fruit, deals Gregor a deep and crippling wound.
Hobbled and neglected, Gregor begins to waste away in his room. The family takes in three carping lodgers, using Gregor's room to store excess furniture and other miscellanea--adding insult to injury. Yet the family does leave Gregor's door slightly open in the evenings, so that he may take part in the household in a small way. One evening, the lodgers hear Grete practicing her violin. They call her into the parlor for a concert. She obliges, and the music so moves Gregor that he creeps out into the parlor towards her, wanting to convey that he understands her gift and will help it to blossom. The lodgers see Gregor and immediately give notice. This is the breaking point for the family. Grete declares that they must abandon the notion that this hideous bug is their dear Gregor. All sadly agree. Gregor slinks back into his room. He dies that night.
A great weight has been lifted from the family. After a moment of mourning, the father demands that the lodgers leave immediately. The family takes a trolley out of the city and into the countryside. It is a beautiful, sunny day, and as Grete stretches out her limbs in the trolley car, her parents' thoughts turn to finding her a husband.

The Canticle of the Sun

by Francis of Assisi

At this poem, this is more on our God, and the peoples who thank God what he did to our world and everything God id there to our side, what we need he always give us, and we need to praised him, even we have different religions but we are praising to only one God.
God id the most powerful of all, we need to thank him for his all good creatures for us, he made this all in this world with a good purpose like, especially through my lord Brother Sun, who brings the day; and you give light through him, Sister Moon and the stars; in the heavens you have made them, precious and beautiful, through Brothers Wind and Air, and clouds and storms, and all the weather, through which you give your creatures sustenance. through Sister Water; she is very useful, and humble, and precious, and pure. through Brother Fire, through whom you brighten the night. He is beautiful and cheerful, and powerful and strong. through our sister Mother Earth, who feeds us and rules us, and produces various fruits with colored flowers and herbs. , through those who forgive for love of you; through those who endure sickness and trial. Happy those who endure in peace, for by you, Most High, they will be crowned. , through our Sister Bodily Death, from whose embrace no living person can escape. Woe to those who die in mortal sin! Happy those she finds doing your most holy will. The second death can do no harm to them.
Praise and bless my Lord, and give thanks, and serve him with great humility.

Greek Creation Myth

In the beginning there was an empty darkness. The only thing in this void was Nyx, a bird with black wings. With the wind she laid a golden egg and for ages she sat upon this egg. Finally life began to stir in the egg and out of it rose Eros, the god of love. One half of the shell rose into the air and became the sky and the other became the Earth. Eros named the sky Uranus and the Earth he named Gaia. Then Eros made them fall in love. After much fighting the younger generation won. With Zeus as their leader, they began to furnish Gaia with life and Uranus with stars.
Soon the Earth lacked only two things: man and animals. Zeus summoned his sons Prometheus (fore-thought) and Epimetheus (after-thought). He told them to go to Earth and create men and animals and give them each a gift. As the sun god rode out into the world the next morning Prometheus took some of the fire and brought it back to man. He taught his creation how to take care of it and then left them. Another of his sons created a woman of great beauty, Pandor.
It’s certainly more interesting than the story of Genesis from the bible but a lot of the same items are there such as Pandora who is the equivalent to Eve in the bible and Pandoras Box is similar to the apple that Eve ate (i.e. representing human inability to avoid temptation).
Also 2 sons like the bible (Cain and Abel).
Remember this is thousands of years before the bible was written so probably a lot of the stories from the bible are modernized versions of this.
Pandoras Box is now used commonly as a euphemism for something that will cause trouble i.e you say don’t do that it will be like opening Pandoras Box.

I HAVE A DREAM

By Dr. Martin Luther King jr.

I Have a Dream is the famous name given to the ten minute public speech by Martin Luther King, Jr., in which he called for racial equality and an end to discrimination. King's delivery of the speech on August 28, 1963, from the steps of the Lincoln Memorial during the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom, was a defining moment of the American Civil Rights Movement. Delivered to over 200,000 civil rights supporters, the speech is often considered to be one of the greatest and most notable speeches in human history and was ranked the top American speech of the 20th century by a 1999 poll of scholars of public address.
This story is about for freedom, when I read this story I noticed that before in American there is no freedom to the people because the way they treat the Negro people, they separate the white people to the black people. And this story entitled “I Have a Dream”, when I heard that title the first thing that come in my mind, someone have a goal or mission on his/her life, we’ll all of us have a dream in our life. This speech I Have a Dream makes the black people’s awake from being under of the white people, this is injustice because we all have freedom, God made all people here in this world have equality, we have the rights to live to the fullest not one will make us down to the earth because we all created by God and nobody in this world is perfect and at the eyes of God every human being are equal, no one will be on the top and no one will be on the bottom we are all equal. The key message in the speech is that all people are created equal and, although not the case in America at the time, King felt it must be the case for the future. He argued passionately and powerfully.
